When Apple launched the iPad M4, one of the biggest focuses was the Magic Keyboard. The new Magic Keyboard is not available on previous models and is only available on the new iPad M4 Pro.

Apple claims that using the Magic Keyboard on the iPad M4 will give you the same experience as using a MacBook. If you're wondering what's different about the Magic Keyboard, here's everything you need to know.

The design

The design hasn't changed much from the previous model - you can still use the Magic Keyboard by magnetically attaching it to your iPad Pro. The overall material is made of aluminum rolls.

Weight

The new 13-inch Magic Keyboard weighs 662 grams. Compared to the previous 12,9-inch Magic Keyboard, which weighed 693 grams, the new Magic Keyboard is 31 grams lighter.

Function keys(fn)

The biggest change is the function keys (fn). The function keys allow you to adjust the screen brightness, control the volume, play videos, search, and turn on Do Not Disturb. This is why we say that using this Magic Keyboard will feel like using a MacBook.

Trackpad

The trackpad on this Magic Keyboard is made of glass. It's refreshing to see it made of glass. Apple says that the glass trackpad makes the Magic Keyboard more delicate to work with.

Most notably, the trackpad now supports haptic feedback, which means you can use multi-touch gestures and really textual tasks like spreadsheet work.

Colors

The Magic Keyboard is available in the same two colors as the previous generation: white and black. This is to keep things simple and not confuse consumers when choosing a color.

Charging Method

The charging method is unchanged from the previous version: you can charge the Magic Keyboard via the USB Type-C port on the side of the keyboard.

TL;DR

The iPad Pro M4 Magic Keyboard hasn't changed much in terms of design, color, or anything else, but it's 31 grams lighter than its predecessor.

The biggest changes are the Function Key (FN) and trackpad. The function keys allow you to use all the functions available on a MacBook, and the trackpad allows you to do more sophisticated tasks, so you can do a lot of things with just the iPad M4 Pro.
